DMX's acapella vocals are from an earlier song that DMX was on in 2015 for his unauthorized Redemption album - I'm not sure who released this album but there was distribution and the songs' youtube videos come from DMX's channel. What we learn from the Street Shit (remix) was that Jay-Z and Jadakiss laid a verse with the original Nas vocals. Because youtube's algorithm silently blocks curse words from video titles, "The Bath Salt Song" became what was propelled by their algorithm over the original "Street Shit" title - multiple video reposts using those 2 names exist and "Bath Salts" performed better in views than "Street Shit", even though "Street Shit" is what DMX would have named it had he came up with the title himself, similar to how DMX named "Spit that Shit" Because Nas said "this is the bath salt song" on the chorus, people mistakenly started to call it that even though the original song was named Street Shit. įeb 2017: Swizz Beatz had a beat verzuz duel against Just Blaze and on the final round, Swizz played the chopped up version snippet of "Street Shit (Remix)" the video footage took a life of its own with millions of views and reposts on youtube and social media. Miguel and the other being “Street Shit” (Tentative Title). Swizz Beatz stole the show with the two joints he produced on there one being “Summer On Smash” feat. By now the music desk was a mess with knocked glasses and bottles, the party as much on stage as in the crowd and Nas concluded: “We got one,” adding, “we might drop that tomorrow…” – Swizz vigorously agreeing. We never got to hear the whole song, as wanton as the room was.

Dep‘s “Special Delivery,” Swizz promptly spazzed on the mic and enlisted the room of willing participants to the next song’s opening chant – “This that street shit n***a, fuck that weak shit!” – bouncing around the small stage and knocking the all-important laptop off its stand, almost breaking the damn thing as Nas spat “My instincts got me in this Kurtis Blow culture.” Quickly shouting out Erick Sermon in the audience Nas screamed a question at the room: “Can I take you to the motherfucking darkside?” Likening the sound and impact to that of the Diddy/Bad Boy era a la G. You can read about the excerpt here: & archived here No recording of the listening party was found June 2012: This OG solo Nas song was produced by Swizz Beatz during the Life is Good era and was originally named "Street Shit", which didn't make the album.I'm not sure who had amnesia and renamed it "Bath Salts" simply because Nas said it on the chorus, but the OG just had Nas verses with Swizz Beatz on the chanty club chorus for the 2012 listening party. a Jadakiss verse, which was taken off for the final versionįirst of all, I didn't think this was a big deal, but a heated discussion is brewing prior to DMX's album release so I might as well write down what happened. This was an OG Nas solo record and a couple of Nas verses may have been taken off for the final version.
